What a weekend! My birthday weekend was entwined with The Makeup Show LA weekend, so I was constantly doing something. I was either celebrating or enjoying the Show, and that’s just a good way to spend a birthday.
I attended The Makeup Show preview & cocktail hour on Friday, March 27th and the actual show on Saturday, March 28th. I was not able to attend Sunday since I had driven back home and spent the day with my family.
The preview is exactly how it sounds – a preview of the weekend’s events and exhibitors, followed up by a cocktail hour with drinks and snacks. During this time I met some amazing bloggers, including those I chat online with, but never met in person. I am so awkward when I meet someone! I always want to introduce myself, but never get the courage. I was always (and still am) the shy one is school. So if you see me out at a bloggerland event and I don’t say anything, I’m just shy!
One of the highlights from that evening is Kat Von D attended the cocktail hour!! I was in awe. I love this woman, not because she’s female or latina or built an empire starting from tattoos, but because she doesn’t give an eff. She is who she is and makes no apologies for it.

The Makeup Show day 1 was pretty awesome. There were many vendors I got to chat with and people I got to meet.
I was able to score 3 out of the 4 products I really wanted, along with a few other items. I didn’t go haul crazy because I really want a new makeup case, and I’m planning to visit the makeup stores Frends Beauty or Nigel’s in the coming weeks. I didn’t see any cases there I liked, so I decided to wait for the store visit.
I picked up the Nars Dual Intesity Palette and Besame Cosmetics Violet Brightening Powder, both of which I’ve been dying to get my hands on, the Lise Watier Baiser Velours lip colors because I heard they’re amazing, Michael Marcus primer, which is supposed to be waterproof, Auraline Mystery Gift Bag, and Senna Cosmetics lip glosses that I will be giving away on social media!
Here is my haul from the blogger preview, which is by invitation only:
And here are the photos from Saturday’s event. Throughout the day, I took random shots of products, people and lectures around me. If you have questions on any of the photos below, leave me a comment or send me a message.
These cases are really cute! It’s a mix between a z-palette and a clutch, so you can always have your makeup on the go.
See that bright palette up there? I’m really excited about its release! It’s not available yet, but I will be scooping it up when it is!
This was the Ellis Faas booth. Her makeup packaging is shaped like bullets!
Besame Cosmetics was one of my favorite booths at The Makeup Show. I adore all the classic packaging!
