I was introduced to Tat2U at PHAMExpo this year. I’ve seen it here and there, but with so many other brands I was focused on, I never got to checking Tat2U out. It wasn’t until PHAMExpo that I actually had a chance to swatch and play with their products. Everything I tried felt superb in quality with an extra spark of fun, and the tattoo-inspired packaging is uber cute. Why did I wait so long?!
Tat2U creates pretty, cruelty-free cosmetics and gives you the freedom to express yourself with its diverse line of makeup. They initially started as a body art/temp tat brand, but expanded into a full line of cosmetics.
Rock Candy is a beautiful bold but baby pink color that actually works with my tan skin tone! I usually find baby pinks to be too light for my coloring and just make me look like a Beverly Hills mom from the 80s. This is a bit deeper than the standard baby pink, which allows it to work for for a variety of skins.
Rock Candy lipstick comes in a sleek matte black tube, which is oval shaped, not round. It smells like a normal lipstick, which surprisingly I haven’t smelled in a while. For some reason, all my new lippies have had a sweet scent, so it was nice to get back to normal for a change.
The matte texture of Rock Candy is VERY matte. Although it doesn’t appear so in the photo below, there is absolutely no shine or sheen with this color. Any shine you see is just the lights reflecting off my lips. If you want matte, this is the way to go!
Because of the matte texture, make sure you apply a good lip balm prior to use, otherwise your lips will feel dry quickly and it will tug at your lips as you’re applying.
Rock Candy is very pigmented. A couple of quick swipes and I was ready to rock and roll with this bold, pink shade. It does lightly stain your lips and lasts about 3 hours before requiring a touch-up in the center of your lips.
There are 12 shades of matte lipstick total. You can check out the collection and all the other goodies Tat2U carries at tat2umakeup.com.
