September Beauty Box Roundup: ipsy, Beauty Box 5, Sample Society and Total Beauty

Since I received all my September beauty subscription boxes before mid-month (surprisingly!), I decided to do a round-up so you can see what was featured this month.

I am currently subscribed to 3 boxes: ipsy, Beauty Box 5 and Sample Society. Total Beauty is not a monthly subscription, so you can buy when the mood strikes. I recently cancelled with Birchbox, but I’m sure I’ll sign up again toward the end of the year. I’ve been going back & forth with Birchbox since they opened.

I really like ipsy. The samples are pretty consistent, and even when I have a month I don’t like, I usually get a great bag the following month. I have cancelled before, and I’m sure I’ll do it again when I need a break, but overall this is probably the best sample subscription to get for $10.

September’s bag was pretty fun! After a less-than-stellar August bag, September  came with some great goodies: Hikari Lipstick, Nyx Eyeshadow single, mini Pacifica eyeliner, Crown Brush 2-sided brush and Briogeo Hair Repair. Most of the time I won’t like 1 or 2 products, but this bag rocked. Every item in here I will use.

Beauty Box 5 September 2014 Free

Beauty Box 5 $12
This was my 3rd Beauty Box 5 package, and I’m still on the fence. The first box I received was amazing, the second was just ok, and this 3rd one is pretty decent. I love the gorgeous My Beauty Spot nail polish color and I’m excited to try the Nicka K Eye Light Crayon. It looks perfect for a smudged liner look or smoky eye. Those 2 are winners. The toe separators came just in time, but I wasn’t thrilled to see them in a box. Like nail files. The sample conditioners I tossed in my travel case. I’ll be going on a mini-vacation soon so I’ll use them then. And a product I was really bummed to receive was Dr. Lin Acne Spot Corrector. I don’t have and never really dealt with acne on my face, so I have no use for this and will give it to a friend who wants it. Other boxes received an eye brightener instead of the acne corrector.

If you like this box, Beauty Box 5 is offering a FREE September box to new customers. That’s right – free. Click here to get your free box. Enter code AUGUSTFREE.

allure sample society-september 2014Sample Society $15
I recently subscribed to Sample Society, and after my 2nd box, I don’t see myself canceling any time soon. The first one was really good, not completely great because I already had one product in the box.

This September box is fantastic! The standout product and my favorite is Restorsea Revitalizing Eye Cream. It’s full size with an $85 retail value! I’m currently using Restorsea Day Cream with SPF, so it’s nice to add an eye product from the same brand. I also received Lorac POREfection Mattifying Face Primer and Alterna Caviar Repair RX Re-Texturizing Protein Cream. I love Lorac, so anything from that company makes me happy, and the Alterna hair care looks like a fab product. I can’t wait to start using it! I won’t touch the Tarte Brazilliance Maracuja Self Tanning Face Towelettes – I’m tan enough, thank you. And I don’t get excited for tiny perfume samples, but this Dahlia Divin Givenchy Fragrance has a nice scent.

Total Beauty Collection - Anti Aging and Essentials

Total Beauty $20 [2 for $30 deal]
Total Beauty has a Better Than Black Friday sale on their collections, so I purchased two $20 grab bags with an additional 2 for $30 coupon, which oddly enough rang up as 2 for $20 for me! I ordered the anti-aging collection and essentials collection. I don’t know which products belong to which set, because they all came together in one box. I don’t mind, though. It saves packaging.

I’m glad I received a full-size Pur-lisse sunscreen. I’ve received samples and have gone through those quickly. The colors in the Revlon Colorstay palette are rather alluring!

As of the time of this post, they are still running the 2 for $30 promo code. Click here to find out more and get the 2 for $30 coupon.

Yes! And the $10 ones are rather inexpensive. Perfect for trying out a handful of products for a low price.
