When Kat Von D Mi Vida Loca Remix Eyeshadow Palette and Lip Set were released on Sephora, I snatched them up right away. They were too beautiful for me to pass up. Click here to check out the Lip Set. I’ve had this palette now for several weeks (maybe months), and this is one eyeshadow collection I cannot put down. Besides the amazing range of shades, the packaging itself is really eye-catching and gorgeous. If there is one palette you can treat yourself to for the holidays, it should be this one.
The outer casing is a glossed, hardshell cardboard sleeve with an original portrait created by Kat Von D. You pull out the plate of eyeshadows from the sleeve, like a vinyl record. The packaging is well-made and sturdy.
This gorgeous set contains 24 pigmented and creamy eyeshadows in every shade of the rainbow and some. It has a nice mix of finishes ranging from matte to shimmer and glitter. The 5 neutrals in the center of the palette are all matte. Besides my eyes, I also use the matte brown shade (Vox) for my brows.
The entire range of shades feel buttery, with some exceptions. Echo, the blue glittery shade, felt a little dry and chalk-like. Vinyl, the lighter lime-green shade, didn’t apply well at first, even with regular primer. I had to swatch is several times on my arms to appear. But it looks awesome over a white creamy shadow or white pencil eyeliner.
I wish there was a pure red in this palette. That is the only shade I feel that is missing.
Other than that, I adore this palette. I love the fact that Kat Von D is extremely involved in her line. She doesn’t just slap her name on the products. She tests them. She wears them. And she names each and every lipstick after the memory or emotion the shade awakens within herself.
Yes, I am a Kat-a-holic. But that’s because her products are amazing.
