Kat Von D Tattoo Liner in Trooper Review

Kat Von D Tattoo Liner Trooper

I have been wearing Kat Von D Tattoo Liner in Trooper for a while now, and I think it’s time I write a review!

I first received a small .007 fl oz sample from Sephora months ago. Tried it. Loved it. Used every last drop! When that eyeliner finally dried up, I went out and bought a full size one. Laziness.

Kat Von D Tattoo Liner in Trooper is a brush tip black liquid eyeliner. Black is the only color available in this Tattoo Liner line. The tip is very thin, so you can create soft, fluid strokes or build up to thicker lines. The packaging has the same Kat Von D text and style that we’re used to.

Kat Von D Tattoo Liner Trooper

Trooper is very pigmented and is a true rich black. You only need one coat to get good, saturated  coverage. And it flows out of the pen nicely without skipping or dragging.

After lining one eye, I typically put the cap back on, wait a few seconds, then apply on the 2nd eye. Because it is a felt tip, I worry that it will dry out quickly. It’s extremely important to close the cap correctly as soon as you’re done using it. If it does dry out, give it a little shake and press a side of the brush down on something hard to start the flow again. I heard running the tip under hot water works, too, but I have yet to need to do that.

Kat Von D Tattoo Liner Trooper Eye

Trooper feels a little thick and it dries down quickly. You have time to clean up if you make a mistake, but work fast since this is a speedy little sucker.

Some people stretch their eyelids to apply eyeliner, but with Trooper, do not do that. You’ll initially create a smooth line, but because it sticks down fast, any little wrinkle, stretch, or extra fat in your eyelid will show up after you unstretch. Wavy and lop-sided eyeliner is not fun.

I haven’t noticed any flaking with Tattoo Liner and it lasts all day on me. I do need to apply an eye primer underneath, otherwise the outside corners will smear a bit with my watery eyes. If you don’t have allergies or watery eyes, you most likely won’t need primer.

You can find this eyeliner at Sephora and Sephora.com.

  1. Thank you for this review! I’ve been waiting for my Sephora to restock it forever, so I can try it out. It has been like 3 months of me waiting… T_T
