Ever since I first heard about this release, I have been dying to get my hands on the Kat Von D Shade + Light Eye Contour Palette. I love the face contour palette and have been looking for new, very neutral eyeshadows. I always lean toward brighter colors, which means I don’t have too many neutral selections in my eye makeup collection.
I was not disappointed when my always-too-oversized Sephora box came in. This palette is gorgeous!
The Kat Von D Shade + Light Eye Contour Palette comes in a sturdy packaging. It’s cardboard, but very solid and durable. It also has a matching eyeshadow brush (sold separately), but I decided to pass on it.
The eye palette contains 12 different matte eyeshadows in 3 color quads – netural, cool, and warm – to work with and flatter every skin tone. Each color quad comes with a base, contour, define, and highlight shade designed to bring out your best looking eyes yet by enhancing and defining them.
You can stick with one quad or mix and match across the palette.
The palette is also supposed to come with an easy-to-follow contouring guide, but unfortunately my box did not include this. =(
Left to right: Laetus, Lazarus, Ludwin, Samael, Solas, Lucius, Saleos, Shax, Liberatus, Succubus, Sytry, Latinus
The formula of the shadows is similar to my Kat Von D Face Contour Palette – amazingly smooth and velvety soft. They blend like a dream and perform beautifully, which I love to say about matte colors. Mattes can sometimes be chalky and hard to work with, but these eyeshadows are blendable, buildable and easy to work with.
The quality of these colors is impeccable – they’re highly pigmented and feel very rich, almost luxurious for powders. Fallout is minimal, which is great if I have to do my eye makeup after my foundation. You can tell this palette was made with love!
This palette will set you back $46, but considering the number of eyeshadows and superior quality of them, $46 is a great price! This is a purchase I’m glad I made.
