If you know me, you know how in love with French culture I am. France is the one place I hope I get to visit someday! So when I heard about French Box – a monthly subscription box full of surprises from France – I knew I had to buy it. As an added bonus for me, the first month was half off!
When I signed up, I just missed the first box, so I had to wait patiently for their second box, October 2014, to arrive.
I was pleasantly impressed with how well the box was packaged. The box itself is cardboard but very sturdy. They really took care to make sure everything was neat, and would stay neat & pretty, through mail travel.
October’s theme was “The Warmth of Provence,” a southeastern region of France. The box contained 7 items, one being a nice beauty bonus item.
Inside the box was a recipe card for various dips and a small notebook with blank sheets.
The first two products I pulled out I instantly fell in love with. Durance solid soap in fig smells like a dream. It definitely gives off a nice, french-spirited aroma.
Sothys Mineral Powder Eyeliner has a foam tip and a powdery texture, like eyeshadow. I don’t know how well it will hold up with my watery eyes, but I’m excited to try this!
The Atelier Cologne is the only thing I was not excited about. The scent is too musky for my taste, but I can see this being a favorite of a few of my friends.
I love to receive brushes in my sample boxes. I’m a brush-whore. Matis Kabuki brush feels soft and fluffy in my fingers, but it is made of animal hair, so buyer beware. If you don’t mind that, this is a great brush to apply mineral foundation.
Oshibori towels are great products to keep in your purse. They are 100% cotton, aromatherapy single-use towels for hands and face. These are perfect to use after dinner or to relax after the gym, and all 4 towels only run $5.
I finally got my hands on some calissons! I’ve been wanting to try these tasty treats for a while, so I was extremely happy to get a mini 4-pack in my box. These candies kind of taste like a chewy cookie, but at the same time a texture I’ve never had before. I WILL be ordering more! =P
The Le Panier Francais herbs mix will be a nice addition to dinner tomorrow. The mix of basil, savory, rosemary, thyme and marjoram instantly make me hungry.
The variety inside this box was spectacular. They took the time to really curate this box and create an all-over Provence experience, and didn’t just throw a bunch of items together at random. I can definitely say this will not be my last French Box.
As of today, French Box is still offering half-off your first box special with code FIRSTBOX.
