Last Friday, I attended a Drag Makeup Demo at April Love Pro Makeup Academy in LA, sponsored by Sugarpill Cosmetics. Drag Queen diva Porcelain showed us a crazy, intense makeup look on Abortia Clinic (yep, that’s her name!).
Porcelain went for a House of a 1000 Corpses clown-type look. Clowns – I am not a fan of clowns. They’re not scary, but there is something off about them…something a little creepy. This look she created was actually pretty sweet and nowhere near Bozo-looking.
She used a variety of makeup, mostly Sugarpill and OCC, including the new OCC pencils to create the diamond/Superman’s home pattern on Abortia’s temples (below). Watching Abortia transform was truly amazing. She was first covered in Dermablend to smooth out her skin, then Mehron paint stick to finish the job. The contour was done using OCC’s cream foundation in John Doe, then Coty Airspun Loose Face Powder was applied on top, which Porcelain said is a must-buy powder for drag queens. Finally, MAC Studio Fixx was applied to blend it all together.
The eye makeup was all Sugarpill, and even though I have their 3 palettes, I still want to get my hands on their 12-pan pro palette, which is the same thing!
The final look was definitely intense and perfect for a show! Loved it!
Look who was at the class! Ms Sugarpill herself, Shrinkle and Queen of Blending.
We all got little goody bags after the event. Mine contained Sugarpill Loose Eyeshadow in Goldilux and geisha-inspired tweezers.
April Love Pro Makeup Academy occasionally has free or low priced demo classes. Check out their website to see what is coming up next.
