Covergirl truMAGIC Luminizer – a glittery goodness review

Covergirl TruMagic Luminizer Gold ShimmerAlong with truMAGIC Skin Perfecting Balm, I also purchased truMAGIC Luminizer at Ulta. You can’t go wrong with BOGO and Ulta’s $3.50 off $10 coupon!

Oh. Em. Gee. That’s the first thought that popped in my head after swatching Covergirl’s truMAGIC Luminizer at Ulta.

truMAGIC Luminizer is a soft touch balm that has a velvety cream-to-powder finish. The gold highlighter contains lots of shimmer that can be used over or under makeup to give your face a nice, shimmery glow.

Covergirl Luminizer Balm Gold Swatch

Covergirl Luminizer Skin Perfecting Balm up closeLuminizer starts off a bit greasy, and I was worried that would affect my already oily face, but it dries down to a powder finish, and my skin had no reaction to it.

There is A TON of gold shimmer in this luminizer – a ton. But it’s genuinely very pretty when applied lightly on the top of the cheeks and amazingly pretty in the corners of the eyes. To apply, don’t rub this across your face after foundation is already applied. Pat/stipple it on your cheekbones so you don’t remove the makeup underneath. It blends nicely that way.

I’ve read quite a few reviews of people really disliking this product, but I actually really like it. It’s a nice shimmer to use in the evenings for an event or night out or in the inner eye corners any time of day. Keep this away from your cheeks during the daytime, unless you want a fun, glittery look.

This is definitely not for my light skinned dolls – they would look like they got glitter-bombed in the face. To work the gold shimmer, I think tan and dark complexions are best.
