Covergirl is quickly turning into one of my favorite drugstore brands. To be completely honest, a few years ago I stayed away from the brand because I really disliked their products. The textures, consistencies and overall feel of the brand was not something I was into. But over the last year or so, Covergirl put a spin on their products and look, and now it’s my first stop at Walgreens.
It sounds like they are amping up their brand again for 2016, so I cannot wait to see what they come up with!
I recently received two new Covergirl products to try, courtesy of Influenster: Plumpify blastPro mascara and Oh Sugar! lip balm in Taffy. I haven’t tried the mascara yet, but I have been wearing Oh Sugar! over the last several days.
Oh Sugar! is a tinted lip balm infused with vitamins C & E, grapeseed oil and avocado butter to keep lips moisturized and smooth. It comes in 10 transparent shades, and you can apply multiple layers for a slightly deeper color. They are scented, but smell like delicious sweet candy. This fits perfectly with my sweet tooth. =P
Taffy is a slightly deeper color than the tube implies. It looks more raspberry than pink, but it is very sheer, like I mention above. I was quite happy to open my tube and see it wasn’t a cotton candy pink! This shade fits better with my tan skin. One or two swipes and I get a very faint wash of color. Three or four and I get a slightly more pronounced look. It does keep my lips moisturized and feels lightweight, but nourishing at the same time.
I was bummed that my lip balm was smooshed at the top when I opened it, but sooner or later, I would have done the same to it. So I guess it looked into my future and came pre-smooshed for me. LOL!
This has been my go-to lip balm for the past several days. Because it is so transparent, I can quickly apply a swipe or 2 without a mirror. I also like to apply this under my lipstick to keep my lips moisturized and boost my lip color a little. Using several swipes under a rose-gold lipgloss produces an amazing color! I really want to purchase a few other shades of Oh Sugar!, like Gumdrop, Cupcake and Jelly.
I received these products from Influenster for testing purposes. My opinions in this post are my own and not affected by any press product.
