Cosmoprof North America 2016 – Recap & Photos

I can’t believe it has been one month since I returned home from Cosmoprof North America. These last 4 weeks have been a whirlwind of work, blog, work, networking, work and an abundance of emails. Being able to sit and write this recap is a nice break from everything else. =D

Cosmoprof North America is a trade show for beauty industry professionals ONLY. This event is not open to the general public. The event is focused in particular on the distributors, OTC’s, manufacturers and buyers of professional beauty products and retail stores.

Last year I went with a fellow blogger, but this year I went alone since she could not join me. I was a little nervous that I was going to have a hard time at get-togethers because I am such an introvert, but I had nothing to fear. I introduced myself to one person who introduced me to another and so on. I’m really trying to push myself in getting to know more people. Ack!

I arrived Sunday with the hubby in tow and we checked into the Excalibur. Not my first choice, but it was inexpensive and near everything we needed & wanted to attend. We arrived a little later than expected, so as soon as I swung our room doors open, I quickly hurried to get ready and hauled my butt to the Mandalay Bay Convention Center. I checked-in Cosmoprof and spent about 15 minutes inside before I had to scurry off to one of two after parties. {More on the after parties in my next post.}

Monday was day 2, even though technically it was more like day 1 since I only popped in & out of Cosmoprof on Sunday. I spent the entire day, from 9am to 4:30pm chatting with brands, mingling with other bloggers, and learning more about the world of beauty. In one word, Cosmoprof is amazing.

My first stop was a 9am appointment with LightStim to learn more about their new product launches and technologies. Their new, upcoming LightStim bed is incredible. LightStim uses LED light therapy to deliver light energy to our skin and muscles. Each product uses different wavelengths for difference focuses, such as anti-aging, pain and acne. The LightStim bed will allow your entire body to absorb the LED therapy for full-body recovery.

That same day, I also met with That Girl, a brand, Whish, Lip Freak, Doucce, Skinn Cosmetics, Velvet 59 and a whole slew of other fantastic companies:

About 4:30, I went back to my hotel room to get refreshed, then headed back to the Mandalay Bay for Discover after Dark. Discover After Dark was the best! I got to have a little more one-on-one time with brands and most were offering samples of their products, all while sipping wine. It was a nice way to get to know the person behind the company.

About 7:30pm, I left to pick up the hubby and we headed over to the Doucce Art Beauty after party. It was held at this great makeup and hair studio about 15 minutes away from downtown Vegas. We had some delicious apps and I took home a few goodies. I’ve never tried Doucce, so I’m excited to finally get my hands on some products.

After Doucce, we headed over to Wahlburgers because the hubs and I are big fans of the show and the Wahlbergs in general. NKOTB forever!

Phew… that was all one day.

Tuesday [day 3 of Cosmoprof] was another eventful day, though not as busy as Monday.

I began the day visiting with Bebe & Bella, Besame Cosmetics, Mini Mani Moo, Crown Brush, Curl Keeper and Eddie Funkhouser. I did not know the Eddie Funkhouser brand was going to be there, otherwise I would have made an appointment! Each time I went to the booth, he was busy. Darn!

I went back to my hotel at 2pm and almost passed out. Nah, I was too hungry to pass out, so we headed to the buffet and gorged on food. We also hit the slots a bit and wandered around Vegas before finally calling an end to our Vegas trip.

Cosmoprof North America is definitely a must-attend event if you are anywhere in the beauty business. I can talk about its massive size, large quantity of exhibitors, or crazy ability to network, but you won’t really get the full spectrum of the event until you attend.

Many companies were there trying to launch in the US, others wanted to bring awareness to their new products, and others just wanted to get the word out about their brand or provide some B2B networking action.

If I have the opportunity to attend in 2017, I will absolutely take it.
