3 Products That Failed Me

3 Products I Do Not LikeI talk about and praise so many great products, but not every product I buy or receive has a happy ending with me. There are quite a few that have failed me or betrayed me (Very dramatic, aren’t I?), and here are my top 3. Granted, these products have a huge following of happy customers, but for me, they were complete flops.

Simple Smoothing Facial Scrub

The scrub itself it not bad. It exfoliates just like any other scrub, except Simple skincare is made for sensitive skin, and contains no dyes, no artificial perfumes and no harsh irritants to upset skin. But the smell – ugh! The smell is what really makes me dislike this product. It smells almost machinery, like oils and metal. It’s really hard to describe the scent, and I don’t know if I received a bad batch, but I can’t use anything on my face or body that smells this bad. It turns me off from trying any other Simple skincare product.

Yes To

I have different feelings about Yes to. There are products I love, like their lip balms and facial towelettes. Their face wipes always make my face feel nice & clean, even on my grungiest nights, especially the Grapefruit exfoliating wipes.

Then there are products I will never use again. (This is more than 1 product, but I’m counting it as one for the sake of this post!)

Last year I needed a new skin care routine, and because of everyone’s great reviews on Yes To skincare, I bought Yes to Blueberries Eye Firming Treatment, Daily Repairing Moisturizer and Intensive Skin Repair Serum. After the second day, my face didn’t react like my face, and I started having adverse reactions to the line. The anti-aging products started to have the opposite effect on me, and after a couple weeks of use the lower half of my face looked much older. It dried out my skin, made it almost scaly and little fine lines started appearing out of nowhere. I should have thrown out these products right away, but I wanted to see if my face or the products would adjust. I regret that decision! I did finally throw them out after almost 3 weeks of use and started using an Exuviance anti-aging trial kit I had laying around. Exuviance really helped to get my face almost 100% back on track. I will never use another Yes To product. I don’t care how much I like their face wipes, it’s just not happening. There are so many other brands that I can spend my money on.

Covergirl Lash Blast Fusion – Water Resistant

My lashes are weak and puny, so I always use waterproof formulas of mascara. They don’t drop my curl, and because I have sensitive, watery eyes, it makes sense all around. Unfortunately, this mascara was a total bomb for me. I’ve tried other Covergirl mascaras and will continue to purchase them, but not this kind.

My lashes refused to hold any curl with this mascara, and recurling them with either a heated eyelash curler or regular eyelash curler would not work. My heated eyelash curler is my go-to for after mascara. If my lashes lightly droop after application, it makes the curl last and appear longer. But with Lash Blast Fusion, my lashes kept falling, sticking and spidering. After a couple tries, I was done.
